Rules and Procedures
Our Mission:
The Miss Sebastian Sweetheart Pageant is dedicated to
bringing communities together and encouraging their future
leaders. Each year, the pageant awards cash, scholarships
and prizes to recognize and assist the development of
talented young women within our neighboring communities.
Explore Your Potential:
The Miss Sebastian Sweetheart title opens doors during
the year of the queen's reign. As the pageant winner,
the queen will represent the title for the coming year
and will return to next year’s pageant, to crown
her successor.
Two Categories: Junior and Senior
The Junior Miss Sebastian Sweetheart category includes
ages 8-12. The Senior Miss Sebastian Sweetheart category
includes ages 13-17.
Grand Prize:
First Place Winner of Each Age Category will receive the
title, a cash prize of $1,000, crown, sash, and roses,
participation ribbon, along with various prizes donated
by area businesses and a full year Scholarship at Melann
Kahle’s Smart Talent Academy of Performing Arts
redeemable for any and all scheduled group classes held
during the Queen’s reign.
Prizes for Runners-Up of Each Age Category:
The three runners-up to the Queen's title will each receive
a rose, placement ribbon, participation ribbon, and various
prizes donated by local sponsors and group class scholarships
at Smart Talent: First Runner Up: Three courses; Second
Runner Up: Two courses; Third Runner Up: One course, redeemable
during the pageant year. Note: In the event of
only 5 contestants within an age category, a Fourth Runner
Up in both age categories will be recognized with a rose,
placement ribbon, and participation ribbon.
Everybody Wins:
This is an opportunity of a lifetime. Besides the possibilities
of winning prizes, cash, a Smart Talent Scholarship, and
community recognition, are the self-confidence and experience
the contestants gain from the Smart Talent Pageant Workshops
and from interviewing and appearing on stage at this glamorous
event. Every contestant will be recognized on stage with
the official pageant ribbon during the event to honor
your participation.
Scoring:
Contestants are scored 20% on your Personal Introduction,
40% on Formal Wear Poise and Appearance, 40% on Communications
Skills in a Question/Answer Competition. Independent judges
who are leaders in our community will be scoring the event.
The Categories for Judging are as follows:
Personal Introduction
The judges will be looking for a sparkling, winning attitude,
clear speech, and warm, glowing personality to embody
the title of Miss Sebastian Sweetheart!
Formal Wear Poise and Appearance:
The formal wear category will showcase the contestants'
poise and appearance in an individual and group segment.
Modesty is imperative for all age groups. It should be
noted that this pageant, while a glamorous event, does
not focus exclusively on physical appearance. Good communication
and presentation skills are recognized and encouraged.
Braces, glasses, skin problems, varying heights, etc.,
are irrelevant and are a normal part of growing up. The
judges are instructed to score in this manner.
The Question/Interview:
The questions shall consist solely of topics such as family,
education, hobbies, community involvement, etc. In addition,
contestants may be asked pageant related questions such
as: What do you hope to gain from your participation in
this pageant? Communication skills will be assessed in
this category. Assessment will take into consideration
the participant’s age category and corresponding
language development.
Attire:
Senior Contestants are required to wear a long gown.
Junior contestants may wear a dress or gown.
