| Here I am at Rock City Gardens in Tennessee, trying
to forget about Hurricane Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne. |
The terrain is natural, but some elements such as
the steps have been carved for easy walking. |
| We also toured spectacular Ruby Falls. This formation
is called "Mirror Lake." Stalactites are
reflected in a pool of water below them. |
This was one of the few stalagmites people are allowed
to touch in the caverns of Ruby Falls. |
| Many formations looked like everyday objects and
were labeled for visitors. |
Dinner, anyone? |
| Mom made me pose in the gardens of the hotel for
our Christmas cards. |
Here was a fun way to pass the time...a hilarious
dinner theater show about time travel! |
| My favorite part of the trip was this ride on the
horse and carriage through downtown Chattanooga. The
Dalmatian's name is Nate. Aw! He looks so cute! |
This life-like doll moved, sang, and played the
guitar...It actually had a recording device inside
of it that played music to greet visitors outside
of Rock City Gardens. |
| In Mother Goose Village, at Rock City Gardens, scenes
from nursery rhymes are set up inside of portholes
for kids to look inside. |
The scenes in Mother Goose Village are made of plaster
and painted with paints that glow in the dark. |
| When you put a shiny new penny in this souvenir
coin machine...it makes it flat and stamps a neat
design on it. |
This artist has an amazing talent. She cut
out my silhouette without even sketching it first!
A charming
Chattanooga choo choo.
(Say that
3 times fast!) |
All Aboard! (Much easier to say!) |
| Sailing the Tennessee River on the tour boat, "Southern
Belle," was fun and relaxing. Plus, I got
to see some amazing sights and landmarks along the
way. |
Help! I laughed 'til I cried and begged Mom to stop
singing, "Good Ole Rocky Top!" |
| Mommy and me...just hanging out and waiting to
board the "Southern Belle". |
The captain of the "Southern Belle" gave
us a tour in the "bridge". |
| We toured "Scarlett on the Square," a
"Gone with the Wind" museum in Marietta,
Georgia to do some research for our upcoming play,
"Little Women," which is also set during
the Civil War. |
At the museum, there were authentic costumes from
the movie," Gone with the Wind", as well
as other types of memorabilia like photographs, posters,
and news articles about the movie. |
| I liked the pretty dolls in the display cases. These
portray the character, Scarlett, in her famous green
gown. |
We also stopped at this cotton field in Georgia
to gather information for my school science project.
| The Tennessee Aquarium was really interesting.
This was a photo stop where kids can climb up inside
the aquarium for a "watery" experience. |
This Alice in Wonderland mural at a Chattanooga
pizza place was dramatically inspiring, too.
Meow! |
| This pre-historic tortoise shell is huge! What more
can I say? |
All this walking made my feet tired! But at least
the trip took my mind off the hurricanes and we had
a lot of fun. |
